SKY-SDR Firmware Update V.1.03

This is the second and probably last firmware update for the SKY-SDR.

 

This is not a mandatory update.  It primarily improves operation on DIGI Modes with a faster AGC and by offering the choice of 4 filter bandwidths

UPDATE DESCRIPTION:

 

New SKY-SDR  DIGI mode Filters with V.1.03

The SKY-SDR now offers a choice of 4 different bandwidths for DIGI Modes. Changing filters changes both the received bandwidth and the transmitted bandwidth of your own signal.

 

Here are your choices:

  1. 4kHz    /   250 -4250Hz
  2. 2kHz    /   250 -2250Hz
  3. 1kHz    /   500 -1500Hz
  4. 500Hz  /   500 -1000Hz

DIGI AGC 20  is a factory fixed value, and does not change,                         even if you see value changes on displayed MENU.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

 

Recent developments in DIGI Modes has made it necessary to make changes to the original filter schema used in the SKY-SDR.  Additional filters are now available as well as a fast AGC.

 

Ever increasing interest in FT8, JT65 as well as FT4 (coming soon) has resulted in over-crowding of the tiny frequency spectrum (2 kHz) allocated  to DIGI Modes

 

We recommend the following usage of the filters:

  1.  Filter:  4 KHZ  for PSK31 , PSK63 or  JT65 + JT9 , RTTY Contest .
  2.  Filter:  2 KHZ  / Example 20m Band:
    • PSK31  / 20m:  14070 -14072  
    • PSK63  / 20m:  14072 -14074
    • FT8      / 20m:   14074 -14076
    • JT65    / 20m:   14076 -14078
    • JT9      / 20m:    14078 -14080
    • T10     / 20m:    14080 -14082
  3.  Filter: 1kHZ, very useful for DX for all  DIGI MODE in  1kHz range
  4. Filter:  500Hz  - excellent for major contests, such CQWW DX – The narrow bandwith reduces QRM significantly.  It also reduces the width of your own transmitted signal, allowing other users  1500Hz of free space.   Use this bandwidth in RTTY or PSK contests, to improve your score!
