Ich fange mal mit dem Ende an:  ------ Diese Antenne ist der Oberhammer!

und nein, ich bekomme kein keine Provision von Spiderbeam.

Bin halt nur ein ganz normaler CW-Amateur.

Derzeit bin ich im Dauercamping am Prödeler See in der Mittleren Elbaue bei Magdeburg mit meinem Wohnmobil (FF-Gebiet).

In Erwartung der Lieferung der Antenne hatte ich schon einige Vorbereitungen getroffen.

• Per Pfeil (Glasfiber) und Bogen (18 kg Zuggewicht) und einer aufgestellten Angel mit 0.45 mm geflochtener Schnur am Pfeil hatte ich schlussendlich Kevlar-Schnur (0.5 mm?) über drei ca. 30m hohe Birken geschossen.

• Alle anderen Methoden (Schleuder oder EZ-Hang) erwiesen sich als lange nicht so effektiv und vor allem präzise.

Also Antenne +Koax dran und bis in 25m Höhe hochgezogen.

Mein 30m Hyperflex5-Koax-kabel hat men gerade so gereicht...

Leider musste ich aufgrund der Position der Bäume die Antenne als Winkeldipol mit einem Öffnungswinkel von 120° spannen.

KX3 dran und .... nichts. Rauschen bei S2-3 auf 80m gegen 18 Uhr.... Kaputt, Mist...

Übers Band gekurbelt und bumm - S9+20m OK, SP, HA, DL etc...

So eine leise Antenne!

Mein Dipol in 10 m Höhe hat sich selbst in dieser sehr ruhigen Lage soviel Störungen eingefangen, das ging bis S5-6.

Nächster Versuch:  PileUp auf 20m mit 100W - Mali - ein Anruf, DL1QC 599 das Ganze wieder bei einem Grundrauschen von S3.

Also, Height is might.

Wenn man diese Antenne nochmal abspecken könnte, mit montiertem 30m 2mm dämpfungarmen Koaxkabel, (ruhig eine Antenne für den CW-Bereich, das Ganze in 16m Höhe auf dem 18m-Spider-Mast) das wäre das Ding!

Klar, ist es so schon.  ;-)

Here is Karsten, DL1QC.

Perhaps you remember our nice telepone conversation.

You prepared an 807-L for the CW-Portion [of 80m] for me.

Many thanks for that.

I'll begin with the end:  ---- This antenna is the Non-Plus-Ultra! ----

And no, I am not receiveing payment of any kind from Spiderbeam.

I'm just a very normal CW-ham.

Currently I am at a long-term camping site on Prödeler Lake, in "middle Elbaue", near Magdeburg [Germany], in my "RV" (Motor-Home).  This is a WWFF region.

While waiting for the delivery of the antenna, I had made a few preparations:

• Using a fiberglass bow and arrow (40 lbs. pull), I shot a 1/2 milimeter Kevlar string about 30 meters (about 100 ft.) over a branch of a tall birk tree. 

• All other methods (sling shot or EZ-Hang) proved to be far less effective and especially less precise.

I attached the coax to my antenna hoisted it 25 meters (81 ft.) into the air.  My 30 meters long Hyperflex5 coax cable was just barely long enough...

Unfortunately, due to the position of the trees, I had to string the antenna as a "bent dipole" with an angle of about 120 degrees.

Attached the antenna to the KX3 . . . nothing.   At about 18:00 (local time), the noise level was S2 to S3 on 80m ... "KAPUTT" [BROKEN].  Darn...

I tuned across the band and BANG - S9+ - [stations from] OK, SP, HA, DL, etc.

Such a quiet antenna!

My [old] dipole mounted 10m (33 ft.) high had S5 - S6 noise, even in this quiet QTH.

Next attempt:  PileUp on 20m with 100W - Mali - one call, and "DL1QC 599" again with a noise level of S3.

YES,  Height is might.

If you could reduce the weight of this antenna even more, then with a thin 2mm low-loss coax [i.e., RG-174 HCU], (an antenna for the CW portion, mounted 16m high on the 18m Spiderbeam fiberglass Spiderpole), that would be "THE" antenna!

OK, it is already "the" antenna.  ;-)

[Note from Rick: Sorry, I see no way to significantly cut any more weight off of the antenna, other than removing the SO-239 from the balun and permanently attaching RG-174 HCU...but that coax won't sustain 600w.  Or perhaps we could do it like the 807-UL that I purpose built for C5DX.]
